# Posted: 13 Oct 2005 21:51:05 - Hi Everyone I'm a newcomer to this site and to GanttPV. I just started using it in my work as a production coordinator. So far I like what I see and my specific use of GanttPV is for the Gantt report as I like having a visual representation of all the projects in our workshop. The company I work for already has a comprehensive project tracking system based on an Access database and developed out of our head office in Toronto. What I would like to be able to do is do an export of the name, duration and starting dates fields in our project database and import these into the Gantt report of GanttPV. This way I could do one comprehensive update of GanttPV and start the ball rolling so I would only need to do incremental changes afterwards. One of my other ideas is to use my Palm PDA to keep the same information as in the GanttPV. This would require a script to export the info in the Gantt report to a CSV ASCII file and then import it into a database application in the palm. Then I would be able to walk about the workshop and update my info right on the spot and then get back to my desk, synch my Palm and then import that information to the GanttPV. I'm just starting off in Python and dont' have enough free time to work on a script myself. However, I see many capable individuals creating excellent scripts so I'm putting out the idea. If anyone has any ideas I would really appreciate it. thanks, Stefano |

I've some experience writing import and export scripts for GanttPV, so it won't be too much trouble. I'll email the scripts to you when they're ready. Thanks again for helping us peg that DLL error. Regards, Alexander |

# Posted: 7 Nov 2005 12:40:12 ° Edited by: Alexander - Stefano, I coded two scripts, one for import and one for export. But instead of exporting from a report, they export from the whole table. I had been trying to modify them to better meet your request, but without much success. If you would like the scripts as they are, let me know and I'll email them to you. The address is (removed for privacy), right? My apologies for the delays. Sincerely, Alexander |

# Posted: 14 Apr 2006 18:14:22 - Sent! My pleasure. As for the colors, do you mean that you'd like to import and export them? I didn't include that in the scripts I wrote, but I could certainly revise them. Let me know. Alex |

# Posted: 24 Oct 2006 11:56:33 - Dear Alexander I am a newcomer too, and is interested to use this programme as well as devleop my understanding of Python. Would like to have the scripts mentioned above for both import and export, because I have some spreadsheet data prepared in batch for input to GanttPV. Best regards, and thank you for your assistance Terence |

# Posted: 24 Oct 2006 12:04:08 - Dear Alexander I am afraid my first message is not posted, about 3 minutes ago. I am also interested in getting the import and ouput scripts, such that some existing data could be input in batch to the GanttPV. Would you mind if you could send me the scripts as well. Best regards, and thank you for your assistance. Terence |

# Posted: 3 Nov 2006 20:46:01 - Hello Terence, I would be glad to. Send an email to brian@pureviolet.net and I will reply back with the scripts. I am curious to know what format exactly you are trying to import. I may be able to design a better script for your needs. If you're interested, could you send a file with a sample of the data? Best regards, Alex |
