# Posted: 13 Feb 2006 22:01:51 ° Edited by: Alexander - My answers to a few of the most frequently asked GanttPV questions. To be updated whenever I have time. Q: How can I view the whole gantt chart? I can only see three weeks but my project is much longer. I have the same problem when I try to print. A: If you would like to change the number of days in a gantt chart, you can do this: - select one of the time scale columns - run the Edit Column Options script - enter the number of days you would like to display - click OK You might also consider using a different time scale. For example, the weekly time scale shows a week in each column. To use it, first run the Install Week Gantt Time Scale script. (It's in the Install submenu.) This adds Week/Gantt columns to the list of columns you can insert. Q: How do I add a weekly or monthly gantt chart? I ran the install script but the gantt chart is still in day scale. A: The Install Week Gantt Time Scale script creates a new column type called Week/Gantt. You can add it to the gantt report with the Insert Column button. Likewise, Install Month Gantt Time Scale creates two new column types called Month/Gantt and Quarter/Gantt. For convenience, GanttPV treats the entire gantt chart as a single column for most purposes. When you insert a "Day/Gantt" column or a "Month/Gantt" column, you are really inserting an entire gantt chart at a daily or monthly time scale. You can include as many gantt charts as you like in each gantt report. (This is intended to allow you to combine multiple time scales on the same report. For example, you could put a close-up, detail view of the next week beside a broad overview of the next year.) To remove a gantt chart, select any one of the individual columns, and then click on "Delete Column." Q: How can I import/export between GanttPV and a spreadsheet such as Excel? A: As of GanttPV v0.8, you can copy and paste cells just like in Excel. Just arrange the columns in the same order in both programs, and make sure that any dates are in the same format GanttPV uses. Note, however, that GanttPV does not copy the plan bars. If you need to export those, export the chart as an HTML file (Script menu > Print - Export > Export as HTML) and open that in Excel. |
